Surah 15 Al-Hijr

1. فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

   And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,

   15:61

2. قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ

   He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."

   15:62

3. قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ

   They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,

   15:63

4. وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

   And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

   15:64

5. فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ

   So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."

   15:65

6. وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُصْبِحِينَ

   And We conveyed to him (the decree) of that matter: that those (sinners) would be eliminated by early morning.

   15:66

7. وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

   And the people of the city came rejoicing.

   15:67

8. قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ

   (Lot) said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

   15:68

9. وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ

   And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."

   15:69

10. قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ

    They said, "Have we not forbidden you from (protecting) people?"

    15:70

11. قَالَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ

    (Lot) said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers (of lawful marriage)."

    15:71

12. لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

    By your life, (O Muhammad), indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

    15:72

13. فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ

    So the shriek seized them at sunrise.

    15:73

14. فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ

    And We made the highest part (of the city) its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

    15:74

15. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ

    Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

    15:75

16. وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُقِيمٍ

    And indeed, those cities are (situated) on an established road.

    15:76

17. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

    Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

    15:77

18. وَإِنْ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ

    And the companions of the thicket were (also) wrongdoers.

    15:78

19. فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ

    So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both (cities) are on a clear highway.

    15:79

20. وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

    And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.

    15:80
